General Information

NEXCO East has been constructing and is operating about 4,000km of expressways.
・We possess a broad range of construction and operation technologies for our world-class bridges and tunnels.

NEXCO East operates about 3,600 km of expressways, with about 300 km more currently under construction. Together with two other companies, our company was established on October 1, 2005 when the Japan Highway Public Corporation was split up and privatized.

We operate the greatest length of expressways of any company in Japan.

NEXCO East has 1,303 engineers who can propose the best solutions for a wide variety of expressway-related issues.

Project stages

Planning

Studies are conducted of traffic volume forecasts and the effects on the environment, an extensive project plan is created, and public involvement meetings are held.

Design

Civil and facility engineers determine a cost-effective design, and propose the work plan.

Land acquisition

Based on the design, the necessary land is evaluated and promptly acquired.

Construction

High quality expressways are constructed following procurement and project management procedures.

Operation and Maintenance

The expressways are operated efficiently, ensuring safety and comfort for drivers.

Improvements

Traffic improvements,accident countermeasures, earthquakeproofing reinforcement, etc. are carried out in response to changes in conditions.
