1956
Establishment of the Japan Highway Public Corporation

Establishment of the Japan Highway Public Corporation (April 16).
During a period of rapid economic growth, the Japan Highway Public Corporation is established as a solution for improving road development due to the mounting dependence on motor vehicle transportation.
1963 The first expressway in Japan, Meishin Expressway (section between Amagasaki and Ritto) is opened.
The traffic management patrol squad is launched.
1969 Tomei Expressway is fully opened.
1972 Toll pooling system is introduced.
1976 The logistics base (truck terminal), as an expressway-related business, is completed.
1979 Toll collection using a magnetic card system is started.
1985 outbound Kan-etsu Tunnel is opened.
1992 Gaikan Expressway (section between Bijyogi and Misato)is opened.
1997
Opening of Tokyo-Wan Aqua-Line

Establishment of the East Nippon Expressway Company Limited (October 1)
Under the Act on Expressway Companies, the company is established due to the division and privatization of the former Japan Highway Public Corporation as a company that builds and manages expressways and highways with access control, etc. in eastern Japan.
2006 The brand name, NEXCO East, is chosen.
The free magazine "Highway Walker" is founded.
The member card E-NEXCO Pass is issued.
The portal site, "Drive Plaza (DoRaPuRa)," is established.
2007 The customer center is established.
New employees enter the company for the first time since privatization.

Groundbreaking ceremony of Gaikan Expressway (section between Kan-estu and Tomei) is held.
Rest areas become emergency operation bases. Field exercises are conducted.
2013 Ken-O Road (section between Togane JCT and Kisarazu-higashi IC) is opened.
Upgrading road maintenance methods using the Smart Maintenance Highway (SMH) concept is promoted.
Onihei-Edo-Dokoro at Hanyu rest area (inbound) on Tohoku Expressway is opened.
2014 Hachinohe JCT on the Hachinohe Expressway is opened.
Ken-O Road (section between Inashiki IC and Kozaki IC) is opened.
NEXCO East Group formulated its "Long-term Vision 2025" and "Mid-term Management Plan (FY2014-16)."
Joban Expressway (sections between Namie IC and Minamisoma IC, and Soma IC and Yamamoto IC), are opened.
2015 Joban Expressway (section between Joban-Tomioka IC and Namie IC) is opened. (full opening of Joban Expressway)
Ken-O Road (sections between Kuki-Shiraoka JCT and Sakai-Koga IC, Kozaki IC and Taiei JCT, Okegawa-Kitamoto IC and Shiraoka-Shobu IC) is opened.
