Traffic Control Center
Traffic Control Room
The traffic control room in the Traffic Control Center collects information on unusual events, road conditions, and weather conditions in conjunction with the Regional Police Bureau Expressway Management Office, in order to provide such information to our customers.
When unusual events occur, we provide instructions to the Traffic Management Patrol Squad on-site so that they can take appropriate actions to handle the situation. In addition, we call fire departments for fire trucks, and contact relevant road administrators and local governments as needs arise.
Also, in February 2016, we renewed the Iwatsuki Traffic Control Center, being equipped with the highest standard of quake proofing as well as with functions to backup other control centers at times of disaster, to provide information on stretching trends of traffic jams and to keep abreast of on-site situations by making the most of GPS information and camera footage from Traffic Management Patrol Squad vehicles, enabling a higher level of traffic control.
Facility Control Room
The facility control room in the Traffic Control Center measures, monitors and controls the operations of various facilities on roads and tunnels with remote supervisory control facilities 24 hours a day. In case of fires in the long tunnels, we swiftly and accurately guide customers for evacuation and operate emergency facilities in the tunnels.
Moreover, we also analyze the records of facility operations to provide assistance for the maintenance and improvement of facilities.

We patrol expressways periodically or on a temporary basis to collect traffic information such as congestion, road conditions such as debris, and weather conditions.
Also, when unusual events occur, Traffic Patrol squads hasten to the scenes, remove debris and, in cooperation with the police and fire departments, deal with accidents and assist those with cars that have been damaged.

Crackdown on Vehicles in Violation of Laws and Regulations, etc.
The maximum speed limits according to vehicle dimensions on roads and the hazardous materials that vehicles can carry through the long tunnels are designated by laws and regulations. In particular, overloading vehicles that are in violation of laws and regulations have a large impact on the aging of the structures of expressways and may lead to significant accidents.
We are strictly cracking down on those vehicles flagrantly in violation of laws and regulations at toll gates on the entrance of expressways.
