Practical use of power supply through “biomass gasification power generation”

In order to prevent global warming and contribute to the creation of a recycling-oriented society, NEXCO EAST has been recycling biomass such as grass clippings, tree pruning, and thinning materials generated from Expressway as compost and chipping materials. However, as a new challenge for green recycling, we have set up a biomass gasification power plant in the Nasu Kogen Service Area (SA) on Tohoku Expressway and have put it into practical use to supply electricity to the SA.

This technology was developed by the TI Network for "Biomass Gasification Power Generation Utilizing Plant Waste (Biomass) Generated from Grass Cutting and Tree Pruning" (joint research and development with Tekken Construction Co., Ltd. and Ostlund Co., Ltd.). It has been put into practice.
