NEXCO EAST is widening temporary two-lane sections to four lanes in order to ensure time reliability, reduce road closures, and ensure alternative network availability in the event of disasters or heavy snowfall.
Additionally, in order to promote the enrichment of local life and the revitalization of the local economy, we are working with local governments to install additional ICs and smart ICs.
Currently, the Niigata area Expressway managed by NEXCO EAST are undergoing a four-lane expansion project for approximately 26 km, as well as the addition of one interchange (as of October 2005).

The four-lane project will involve widening the section that currently has two-way traffic (one lane on each side) to four lanes (two lanes on each side).

Expanding the road to four lanes is expected to have various benefits, including reducing congestion and traffic accidents, ensuring traffic during large-scale disasters, and ensuring road space and traffic during heavy snowfall.
