NEXCO東日本では、時間信頼性の確保、通行止めの減少や災害・大雪時のネットワークの代替性確保等を目的に暫定2車線区間の4車線化を実施しています。また、地域生活の充実や地域経済の活性化を推進するため、地元自治体と連携して、追加ICやスマートICも整備しています。
併せて、休憩施設空白区間の解消のため、新設PAの整備も進めております。
現在NEXCO東日本が管理する東北エリアの高速道路では、4車線化事業約76km、追加IC等8箇所、新設PA1箇所の事業を行っています(R8.4現在)

The four-lane project will involve widening the section that currently has two-way traffic (one lane on each side) to four lanes (two lanes on each side).

Main benefits of the development

Widening the road to four lanes is expected to have various benefits, including reducing traffic congestion, decreasing traffic accidents, ensuring transportation during large-scale disasters, and securing road space and traffic during heavy snowfall.
