In addition to regular repairs and construction of road structures, we are implementing the "Expressway Renewal Project" for aging Expressway.
Take necessary measures from the viewpoint of minimizing the life cycle cost (all costs until the end of the role) of the main structure of Expressway, preventive maintenance (maintenance method before damage or malfunction occurs), and performance improvement. By doing so, we will maintain Expressway network functions over the long term.

at the time of the Great East Japan Earthquake
Disaster response
The Great East Japan Earthquake that occurred on March 11, 2011 caused a lot of damage such as road surface cracks, bumps, embankment collapses, and expansion joint damage along Tohoku Expressway and Joban Expressway. Immediately after the earthquake, approximately 2,300 km of traffic was closed, and emergency inspections and temporary restoration were carried out. Emergency traffic was secured the next day, and almost all lines were closed to traffic 13 days later.
In the event of an earthquake or other disaster, we will promptly carry out inspections and restoration work to secure transportation.

Ken-Ken-O Road-Yokohama Circular South Line

The Yokohama Circular South Line forms part of Ken-O Road and is a road that will have a great effect on economic activity after opening. Located 10 to 15 km from the city center of Yokohama, about 70% of the entire line (about 8.9 km) is an underground structure such as tunnels on the route connecting Yokohama Yokosuka Road and National Route 1. Since construction is being carried out in the urban area of Yokohama, where many houses are densely packed, the construction project is being carried out in a safe and environmentally friendly manner after many years of technical examination.

4-lane project
From the viewpoint of securing time reliability, accident prevention, and network substitutability, we are implementing a planned four-lane road. In the Tokyo metropolitan area, we are working on a four-lane project for Ken-O Road, etc., and are working to strengthen the functions of Expressway network. Currently, on the Ken Ken-O Road, NEXCO EAST is working together with the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism to expand the approximately 92 km section between Kuki Shiraoka JCT and Daiei JCT to four lanes. The development of this section will contribute to the revitalization of the local economy by facilitating traffic, reducing the risk of road closures, and further promoting the location of companies through more efficient logistics.

SMH is a project to improve productivity in Expressway asset management by utilizing the latest technologies such as ICT and robotics in order to ensure long-term "safety and security" of Expressway. We have introduced RIMS*, which is the foundation of digitized road management information, a BI tool that visualizes inspection data, an all-around road video system, and a pavement work ordering support system (PSS), etc. , repair planning, and repair/repair. Efforts are currently underway to expand the scope of application.

*RIMS (Road Maintenance Information Management System): Road maintenance information system. General term for various systems and databases required for Expressway management. It consists of information strategy system, management system, business processing system, and data management system.
