Q1.What is your current job?
Currently, I work in a position to supervise maintenance work and various inspections within the jurisdiction of the Keihin Management Office. Regarding maintenance work, we coordinate with group companies in charge of maintenance and repairs to systematically repair damage that occurs on roads, carry out daily cleaning and planting, and carry out accident recovery work to ensure safe passage. We are trying to keep the Expressway. Regarding inspections, we collaborate with group companies in charge of inspections, plan and implement inspections, and analyze the results, aiming for efficient maintenance and management. It is also an important job to receive reports of inspection results and immediately consider and deal with any emergency damage.
Q2.
Is it rewarding?
Most of the lines we manage are more than 50 years old, and the traffic volume is extremely high, so they are aging. Therefore, we are repairing the damage Expressway a daily basis while the damage is minor so that we can continue to use the Expressway in the future. . Tunnel construction and bridge construction are large-scale projects that take years to complete, but in the case of this work that I am in charge of, it is necessary to immediately decide on a course of action and complete repairs after discovering damage. Therefore, instantaneous power is required, but I feel that it is also very rewarding.
Q3. Why did you join the company?
Since I often went on long trips with my family in the car, Expressway were familiar to me from an early age. Furthermore, as I grew up, I developed an interest in large-scale structures, and studied civil engineering at university. When I was looking for a job, I wanted to join a company where I could gain experience in a wide range of fields while making the most of what I had learned at university. If I had been accepted by another company, it might have been advantageous to narrow down my area of specialization, but I tried to challenge things outside my specialty at our company, and found out where my potential lies hidden. I thought it would be like
Also, I was in Tokyo for high school and university, and I had never lived outside of the Kanto region, so I was attracted to being able to work in various regions.
Q4. Have you ever thought that you have grown?
I feel that the handling of snow and ice that I experienced while working in the Niigata Regional Head Office 's business management department has led to my personal growth. At that time, I was in charge of disaster prevention work, and I was nervous about how to rescue a customer's vehicle that was stuck on the Expressway due to the heavy snow. After that, we reviewed the response status and considered future countermeasures. As a result, we strengthened cooperation between the Hokuriku Regional Development Bureau and Niigata Prefecture during heavy snowfalls, and built a system that enables us to quickly grasp the situation at the site. Being able to experience coordinating not only with our company but also with other organizations for major issues has led to great confidence and growth.
Q5. of NEXCO EAST
I love this place!
I like that all employees have a common understanding and professionalism to protect Expressway. Although the work differs depending on the type of job and department, we work together to respond to accidents and disasters. In response to the heavy snow that I experienced at the Niigata Regional Head Office, we even sent a rescue request to the Self-Defense Forces. As a company that supports infrastructure, we are able to respond to such natural disasters, and I am proud to be able to work at such a site.
Q6. What kind of future do you want to lead?
After joining the company, I experienced management offices in three places, but since the main focus was maintenance work, I would like to experience a wider range of work, such as construction and new technology development. For example, the installation work of the floor slab waterproof layer. The floor slab waterproof layer is installed under the pavement to prevent deterioration of the concrete floor slab of the bridge, but in order to do this work, we have to regulate traffic. In rural areas, we can restrict traffic for a day or two, but in urban areas with heavy traffic, construction conditions are difficult and there is a high possibility of heavy traffic jams, so we would like to be able to shorten the process. Doing so will lead to the maintenance and management of safe and comfortable Expressway in the future. I feel that it is worth taking on the challenge because of the problem of heavy traffic.

It's not just me, many of our employees have a strong desire to "enjoy where they are." I don't know if I'll be able to live in the same place again, so I want to fully enjoy the charm of the area while I'm here.
When I was in Niigata, I often went skiing, and now I'm visiting sightseeing spots in Kanagawa Prefecture. The other day, I went to Enoshima Iwaya, a cave that is said to be connected to Mt. Fuji.
