Glossary of technology and equipment for "Expressway facilities"

Expressway has various facilities based on the main line (Expressway). There are facilities such as entrances (interchanges) and rest facilities (SA / PA) for running on the main line.

Interchange, Inter (IC)

It is installed as an entrance and exit between Expressway and the general road. Toll collection facilities are also available.
In a broad sense, it means a facility that connects roads three-dimensionally by providing roads (ramps) that connect these roads at the points where two or more roads intersect or approach each other. In NEXCO EAST, the type 1 and type 3 or type 4 roads are connected via a ramp.

Junction (JCT)

Expressway and Expressway says that interchange to connect to each other.
A type of road that is directly connected to each other or roads of type 1 and type 2 are directly connected via a ramp.

Fee Station Ryokinsho

This is a facility to collect tolls from Expressway traffic (users).
It consists of a toll office, a toll gate (island, booth, gate shed), a toll booth, and a toll plaza.
In addition, the toll booth installed inside the interchange is called the "interchange toll booth," and the toll booth installed on the main line is called the "main line toll booth."

It is the name of the toll gate installed on the main line.
The toll gates installed inside the interchange are called "interchange toll gates", and the toll gates installed on the main line are called "main line toll gates".

Bus stop (BS)

This is a facility that high-speed buses and ordinary route buses use to get on and off passengers. It is installed on the main line, interchanges, service areas and parking areas.

It is a place to put on and take off car tire chains etc. in the snowy area. It will be installed near the entrance of a long tunnel where snow conditions change drastically, but it may also serve as a service area or parking area, or the main line may be widened to secure the necessary space.
