About the 2012 fatal accident occurrence situation

In 2012, 52 fatal accidents occurred on the Expressway in NEXCO EAST, and 70 precious lives were lost. (As of the end of December, NEXCO EAST survey)

Compared to 2011, the number of cases was -1, but the number of people was +11, which was an unprecedented serious situation since the establishment of our company.

The reason for this situation is that there were many accidents in which multiple people were killed in one accident.

Under these circumstances, in order to reduce fatal accidents, we will continue to strengthen our traffic safety awareness efforts.

The following keywords and trends are listed as the causes of the accident in 2012.

  • "People and vehicles"...A case in which a person is run over by a following vehicle on an Expressway when an accident occurs.
  • "Stopped vehicle"...A case in which a vehicle that has stopped, such as a breakdown or a tail of a traffic jam, collides.
  • "Outside the vehicle"...A case where the vehicle is released outside the vehicle when the seat belt is not attached.
