East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. (President and Chief Executive Officer: Hirose Hirohiro/hereafter "NEXCO EAST") is a Nextremer Co., Ltd. company in order to further improve customer service at the rest facilities of Expressway. (Representative Director: Nagahiro Mukai/“Nextremer” below) A joint demonstration experiment of Expressway 's traffic information and tourism information provision service using an interactive customer service system (artificial intelligence) developed by November 2016. From 19th to March of next year (scheduled), it will be held in the Kan-Etsu Expressway Kosaka Service Area (hereinafter "SA") (Out-bound line).

Prior to the start of the demonstration experiment, the popular character “Three Polin Keys (life-size)” of Koikeya Co., Ltd., which appears in this system, will also appear on the Kan-Etsu Expressway Takasaka SA (Out-bound) from 10:00 on Saturday, November 19th. We will rush to give a demonstration. (Approximately 1 hour)

NEXCO EAST will promote open innovation and utilize advanced services and technologies to provide further services to customers who use Expressway.

Demonstration experiment purpose

The purpose is to collect data such as the usage status of the interactive customer service system that utilizes artificial intelligence, explore the possibilities and challenges of future use, and connect to better customer service.

Demonstration experiment outline

One digital signage will be installed near the information, and we will provide customer service such as question and answer with customers using an interactive customer service system (artificial intelligence).

  • Three Polin Keys (Kouikeya Character Co., Ltd.) answers customer questions.
  • Images and animations are displayed on the display along with voice guidance.
  • Expressway traffic information, SA facility and store information, we are planning to provide information on surrounding attractions.
  • We will evaluate the service contents based on the usage status and consider future practical applications.

About the interactive customer service system (artificial intelligence) used for the experiment

The interactive customer service system used in this demonstration experiment is an artificial intelligence (AI) researched by Honda Research Institute Japan Co., Ltd., a research and development subsidiary of Honda. *3 The interactive interface software developed by Nextremer, an AI venture company, is utilized by utilizing the software "Dialogue System Tool Kit" that supports language processing, which is one of the results of (1).

In addition, this software is characterized by accumulating intelligence by learning conversations and realizing more advanced conversations.
