One year has passed since the Sunagawa SA Smart Interchange (hereafter, Sunagawa SA Smart IC) opened on August 8, 2015. We will inform you about the current usage status.
Sunagawa SA smart IC usage status
- The average daily traffic in and out for one year after opening (August 8, 2015 to July 31, 2016) is approximately 380 vehicles. A total of approximately 140,000 units have been used.
- On weekdays, the daily average was about 370 units, and on holidays, the average was about 450 units.
- In particular, during the large holidays, there was about 1.4 to 2.4 times more use than on weekdays, and in May 2016, Golden Week had an average of about 540 units, and Obon had an average of about 920 units a day.

- With the opening of the Sunagawa SA Smart IC, the emergency transportation time from Asahikawa to Sunagawa City Hospital has been shortened by about 1 minute in the summer and about 4 minutes in the winter, supporting rapid emergency activities.
- After the opening of the Sunagawa SA Smart IC, the number of emergency transport cases from the Takigawa area increased by about 1.2 times, and the number of people in the Fukagawa area increased by about 1.3 times.
- Due to the opening of Sunagawa SA Smart IC, the use of Sunagawa SA Smart IC at the time of the event was increased by about 2.2 times the average. The number of visitors has also increased 1.3 times, contributing to the revitalization of tourism.
- From the tourist survey, there are many opinions that moving to tourist facilities has become convenient, and accessibility has been improved, which has an effect of attracting guests.
- By using the Sunagawa SA Smart IC, the time required from the Doo Sunagawa Industrial Park to the adjacent ICs (Takigawa IC, Naie Sunagawa IC) is reduced by about 4 to 6 minutes, improving accessibility.
- Companies in the central Sunagawa Industrial Park are taking advantage of the proximity of the Sunagawa SA Smart IC to streamline their production activities. In particular, at shipping companies, the number of machines in operation has increased due to time reductions, etc., which contributes to productivity improvements such as efficient transportation.
- Expecting to improve productivity using the Sunagawa SA Smart IC, we are making capital investments by opening new stores in the neighborhood and starting store expansion.

[Placement of posters and leaflets]
- We have placed PR posters for Sunagawa SA Smart IC at various locations such as Douchi Road Station, New Chitose Airport, Hokkaido Children's Country, Hokkaido municipalities, SA/PA in Hokkaido, and various places in Sunagawa City.
[Distribution of novelty]
- We distributed novelties (tissues) that promote Sunagawa SA Smart IC at Sunagawa SA Festa, city sightseeing events, and Chikaho PR events.

[Featured articles published in tourist magazines]
- We published a special article on Sunagawa Sweet Road in the May 2016 issue of the Hokkaido Magazine "Hokkaido Jalan" and provided ETC benefits to our customers. The ETC benefit was used by 136 people.
* Up to now, the October 2015 issue and the May/October 2016 issue have been featured a total of three times, and we are currently considering feature articles for the winter.
[Approach to related events]
- During the opening period, the "Nakasorachi Harvest Festival" will be held at Sunagawa Highway Oasis, and the Sunagawa SA Smart IC was publicized for the first time on September 21 and 22, 2015. Many people visited, and the number of visitors was about 22,000. This year, it was held on September 24th and 25th, 2016, and the number of visitors was about 18,000.
[Promotion of ETC in-vehicle device installation]
- On July 24, 2016, we held an ETC onboard device sales reservation meeting as a campaign to promote ETC onboard device installation at A-corp Shin-Shinagawa Main Store (Shinsunagawa Agricultural Cooperative) and had 10 reservations. ..
- Sunagawa City has independently issued an ETC onboard device promotion subsidy since January 2015.
