NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office (Atsubetsu Ward, Sapporo City) is pleased to announce the winners of the 9th Smile Highway Senryu Contest (submission period: December 1, 2016 to February 28, 2017), which solicited senryu poems related to traffic safety. From a total of 2,700 entries, Yasumasa Namikoshi, Secretary General of the Hokkaido Senryu Federation, selected 15 works in total, including three for the Excellence Award, 10 for Honorable Mention, and two for the Oklahoma Award, selected by Smile Highway Ambassador Oklahoma.
This year's winner was a haiku poem that expressed the cuteness of a child caring for his father while he was driving, and called for the importance of taking frequent breaks. Furthermore, the Grand Prize of the Year was selected from the entries submitted in the 8th and 9th competitions (submission period: August 1st to September 30th, 2016).
This activity is undertaken from 2013 to the customer participation type traffic safety awareness campaign " Smile highway declaration It is being carried out as a part of.

In fiscal year 2016, we held two Smile Highway Senryu contests: the 8th (submission period: August 1st to September 30th, 2016) and the 9th (submission period: December 1st, 2016 to February 28th, 2017), and received a total of 3,709 entries.

10th Smile Highway Senryu Contest Submissions (Planned)

What is the "Smile Highway Declaration"?
It is a customer participation type traffic safety awareness campaign implemented since 2013.
The purpose of this event is to encourage customers to sympathize with safe driving by proclaiming their safe driving at events and other events.
