- Expressway traffic conditions during Golden Week (flash report) [Hokkaido version]

NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office (Atsubetsu-ku, Sapporo) has compiled information on traffic conditions in Hokkaido during the Golden Week period [April 25th (Sat) to May 6th (Wed), 2026: 12 days] and would like to inform you of the details.
- Average daily traffic volume was 100% of that of the same period last year.
- There were 17 instances of traffic jams lasting over 1km, which is 7 more than the same period last year.
- There were two instances of traffic jams exceeding 10km, the same number as the same period last year.
- The longest traffic jam occurred on Wednesday, May 6th at 5:05 PM, stretching 19.8 km and starting near the Kaede Tunnel on the E38 Doto Expressway between Shimukappu Interchange (IC) and Yubari IC (In-bound, towards Sapporo). This was caused by a surge in traffic after the road closure due to an accident was lifted.
