 In the E18 Joshinetsu Expressway between Sakaki IC and Koshoku JCT where two-way traffic is restricted, there is a traffic jam of about 5 km​ ​on the In-bound line mainly during the morning commuting hours, and traffic congestion is occurring inside the tunnel.
 In addition, there is a traffic jam of about 3 km on Out-bound line, mainly in the evening.
When driving in a restricted section, please comply with the speed limit, keep the lane distance, and be careful not to have a rear-end collision.

NEXCO EAST At the Nagano Construction Office (Nagano City, Nagano Prefecture), E18 Joshin-Etsu Expressway (hereinafter referred to as "Joshinetsu Expressway") Upper and lower lines Between Sakaki Interchange (hereinafter referred to as "IC") and Sarahani Junction (hereinafter referred to as "JCT"), we will implement continuous face-to-face traffic restrictions day and night to carry out landslide countermeasure work. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but we ask that you comply with the speed limit within the restricted area and cooperate in driving safely.
In addition, traffic congestion is expected due to face-to-face traffic restrictions. When you go out, please check the traffic information on websites such as "DraTra". This construction is necessary for you to use the Expressway safely and comfortably, so we ask for your understanding and cooperation.

  2. Face-to-face traffic regulation will be implemented day and night on Saturdays and Sundays.

3. Congestion prediction

  1. Due to two-way traffic restrictions, traffic congestion is expected on both the up and down lines on the following dates.
    Even on non-colored days, depending on traffic conditions, traffic jams of less than 3km may occur.

On the In-bound line, traffic jams of up to approximately 6 km (approximately 20 minutes of transit time) are predicted beginning in the construction restricted section on weekday mornings and weekend evenings.

Four. Requests when driving in two-way restricted sections

Due to the construction work, two-way traffic will be restricted for about 2.0 km on the inbound and outbound lines, so the current four lanes of inbound and outbound lines will be reduced to two lanes. Since the lane width is narrow in the two-way traffic regulation section, please observe the speed limit when driving, secure the distance between vehicles, and be careful of rear-end collisions.

  1. Due to two-way traffic restrictions, lanes will be reduced in the front and back, so please drive according to the construction notice signs. In addition, it is necessary to change lanes or merge at times 1 to 4 shown in the figure below.

  2. Construction vehicles may come and go around the construction site, so please be careful when driving ahead.
  3. Before going out, please check the latest lane regulations and traffic information on the website described in "6. How to obtain traffic information". Also, when using it, please leave with plenty of time to spare.
  4. During the construction period, we will provide construction regulation information using road signs and call attention to ensure safe driving. Please check these information before driving and drive safely.

Five. Construction outline

 E18 Joshinetsu Expressway Between Sakaki IC and Sarahani JCT, we will construct a main line protection facility as a slope landslide countermeasure work. Currently, the construction is at its peak, and face-to-face traffic will be restricted and installed at night. As for the Out-bound line side, the installation was completed by day and night continuous face-to-face traffic restrictions from October 12 ~ December 19, Reiwa 4, and the remaining In-bound line side will be installed under this regulation.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but this is necessary for the safe and comfortable use of the Expressway, so we ask for your understanding and cooperation.
