When driving, please follow local signs, etc., and drive safely.
- Regulation extension: Approximately 3.0km
2. Lane restriction period
Restriction period:
Monday, July 13, 2020 - Thursday, August 6, 2020
- Lane restrictions will be in place all day, including weekends and public holidays.
- Traffic congestion is expected during the restricted period. To help alleviate congestion, we ask for your cooperation in using alternative routes around the restricted areas and avoiding peak hours.
- The restriction period may change depending on the weather, work progress, etc.
- On the Nagano Expressway, construction is underway at multiple locations within NEXCO CENTRAL jurisdiction, including the section between Koshoku IC and Omi IC (In-bound). Please also note that actual traffic conditions may differ from predictions due to accidents, weather conditions, etc., so please check the latest traffic information before departure.
- Lane restrictions will remain in place throughout the day in this section from late August onwards. Further details will be announced separately.
3. Requests for special vehicles
Due to the traffic restrictions, special vehicles exceeding 3.0m in width will not be permitted to pass through this area all day and during the lane closure period. Customers are requested to use alternative routes such as surrounding roads.
Also, please note that if you have obtained a special vehicle permit (*) only for Expressway routes, you will also need to obtain a permit for general roads.
- What is a special vehicle permit?
This is a permit required by the Road Act and the Vehicle Restrictions Act for special vehicles that exceed general restrictions (length, weight, width, etc.) to travel on public roads.
4. Overview of tunnel reinforcement work
At the Ipponmatsu Tunnel, located between Koshini IC ⇒ Maseki IC on the Nagano Expressway In-bound Line, tunnel reinforcement work will be carried out to address the uplift and damage caused by the expansion of the surrounding earth. This construction is necessary to ensure safe and comfortable use of the Expressway, so we ask for your understanding and cooperation.
Main work contents
In order to create a stronger ring-shaped structure for the tunnel, which is subject to excessive force from around the tunnel, concrete (invert) will be installed to improve stability. Specifically, after the road surface is excavated, an invert will be installed to reinforce the tunnel bottom, and then paving work will be carried out to restore the road to a drivable road.
- What is an invert?...The bottom of the tunnel is joined to the inverted arch by concrete, which increases bearing strength and prevents subsidence and deformation.
Five. Request when using
- Due to construction work, lane restrictions will be in place on In-bound lanes all day, reducing the number of lanes in each direction from the current two lanes to one. Because the lane width will be narrower in the lane-restricted section, please observe the speed limit, maintain a safe following distance, and take extra care to avoid rear-end collisions. Also, please be aware that lane positions may change as the construction progresses.
- Construction vehicles may come and go around the construction site, so please be careful when driving ahead.
- During the restricted period, traffic congestion may cause slower traffic flow. Before you go out, please check the latest lane restrictions and traffic information on the websites listed in "6. How to obtain traffic information". Also, please allow extra time for your journey.
- During the construction period, we will use LED information boards and road signs to provide construction regulation information and call attention to driving safely. Please check this information before driving and drive safely.
