NEXCO EAST Niigata Regional Head Office (Nishi-ku, Niigata City) is a national highway No. 49 (Aga-cho, Higashi-Kababara-gun, Niigata Prefecture), which is currently closed due to the collapse of the road surface caused by the heavy rain in Niigata and Fukushima. As an emergency measure to secure a detour for vehicles passing through (Tsugawa-Kuroiwa, Tsumachi), Ban-Etsu Expressway will be provided as a free traffic measure as follows.

1 Implementation period

From 14:00 on Monday, August 1, 2011
Until the general national road 49 closed section can be closed

2 Travel covered by free measures

In-bound line (driving from Niigata to Fukushima)

  • Traveling from Yasuda IC (entrance) to Tsugawa IC (exit)
  • Mikawa IC (entrance) → Tsugawa IC (exit)

Out-bound line (driving from Fukushima to Niigata)

  • Traveling from Tsugawa IC (entrance) to Mikawa IC (exit)
  • Traveling from Tsugawa IC (entrance) to Yasuda IC (exit)
  • Note) If you drive in the section other than the above four, you will not be subject to this free measure.

4 How to pass

Complimentary measures will be applied regardless of whether you drive in the general lane or ETC lane.

  • Note) When using ETC, the usage history will be displayed on the price display and usage inquiry service, but the toll will not be charged.
