On Friday, June 13th, NEXCO EAST Joetsu Management Office (Joetsu City) will be creating a flower bed together with students from Takada Agricultural High School on Out-bound lane of the E8 Hokuriku Expressway at Nadachitanihama Service Area (SA).
Now in its 20th year, this initiative is being carried out as part of the "Flower and Greenery: Relaxing Highway Garden Project," which aims to promote regional cooperation and create spaces where customers can feel refreshed and more comfortable at SAs by planting trees and flowers.

Approximately 500 Madagascar petals grown by students from Takada Agricultural High School will be planted in flower beds and planters in a layout designed by the students.

What is "Flower and Green Peace Highway Garden Project"?
Rest facility We will create a "highway garden" that aims to create a community-like atmosphere and collaborate with the community, while making it easier to use the garden, etc., to provide a more relaxing and healing space for our customers. It is a project that we are promoting for.
NEXCO EAST Niigata Regional Head Office, along with regional cooperation, Hokuriku Expressway Nadachi Tanihama SA (Out-bound line), Yoneyama SA (In-bound line, Out-bound line), Kurosaki PA (Out-bound line), Kan-Etsu Expressway Echigo Kawaguchi SA (Out-bound line) This project is being implemented at five locations.
The NEXCO EAST Group has positioned the period from 2021 to 2025 as "a period that contributes to the achievement of the SDGs and transforms into a new future society," and is making various efforts.
The "Flower and Green Peace Highway Garden Project" is a project that plays a part in cooperation with local educational institutions, support for local education, and community development that allows people to continue living, and as an activity that includes the meaning of promoting greening, SDGs. We believe that it will contribute to the goals of 4, 11, 15, and 17.
