1 Status of winter tire installation on Expressway
The Tohoku Regional Head Office conducts an annual winter tire installation survey at major interchanges (ICs) on Expressway, and this year, the survey was started on November 6th.
The results of this survey and the first snow days at the Japan Meteorological Agency's major stations are as follows.
The next survey is scheduled for November 13th.

Shortly after the first snowfall was observed on a Expressway in northern Tohoku last year, the road surface was covered with snow and many traffic accidents occurred. The reason for this is that the winter tire installation rate is low even after the first snow observation.
2. Even if you have winter tires, drive carefully on snowy roads!
Also, even if you have winter tires, you may get into an accident because you are not accustomed to the speed, steering wheel and brake operation according to the snowy road. Keep a sufficient distance between cars, reduce your speed, and drive safely.
