NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Regional Head Office, Sendai City, Aoba Ward, Chief: Kazuo Kumagai) Ban-Etsu Expressway Kuromoriyama Tunnel (2,758m) In-bound Line (Tsugawa) At the interchange (IC) → Nishiaizu IC), at around 6:19 on Tuesday, 31st, there was an accident in which the vehicle touched the hanging inspection passage, and from 6:28 to 10:50 on the same day (4 For 22 minutes), we closed the road between Nishiaizu IC and Tsugawa IC.

3 The situation of the accident
An accident occurred when a passage for equipment inspection (2.7 m long × 1.1 m wide; weight about 150 kg) in the tunnel drooped down and contacted a passing vehicle (one large cargo). No one was injured in this accident.
4 Causes of drooping
Currently under investigation. In addition, the parts of the inspection passage that drooped down and the concrete part that was attached were sound, and no damage due to aging was confirmed.
5 Traffic patrol status immediately before
We checked the area around the site about 15 minutes before the accident by regular traffic patrol, but there was no droop in the inspection passage.
6 Recovery status
Immediately at this point, we processed the accident and removed the inspection passage, as well as carried out an emergency inspection of the Nishiaizu IC-Tsugawa IC and released the suspension of traffic.
