NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Aoba-ku, Sendai, Regional Head Office president: Mikio Kashima), Check the winter tire installation status and ask the customer to install it early. Therefore, Expressway in major interchanges (IC), has implemented the mounting survey of winter tire in the early winter period.
The results of the survey conducted on November 25 are as shown in the table below.
Due to snowfall in the Tohoku region last week, the winter tire installation rate has increased significantly.
[About frequent accidents during snowfall]
There were 51 accidents (according to our research) on Expressway in the six prefectures of Tohoku from November 19th to 20th when heavy snowfall occurred. About 30% of them were running on summer tires.
It will soon be a full-fledged snow season, Please wear a winter tire early and drive safely. In addition, many accidents seem unfamiliar with driving on snowy roads, so please drive more carefully.
The next survey is scheduled for December 1st.
