Akita University (Akita City, Akita Prefecture) and NEXCO EAST Tohoku Tohoku Regional Head Office (Aoba Ward, Sendai City) have signed an "Agreement on Promoting Organizational Industry-Academia Collaboration" 2020 May 15, 2012.

1 Background of the agreement

Akita University and NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office have collaborated with each other through committees and technical study meetings on various technical issues related to Expressway. This time, we have decided to conclude this agreement in order to systematically and continuously develop the existing collaboration system.

2 Summary of agreement

(1) Agreement name
Agreement on promoting systematic industry-academia collaboration between Akita University, a national university corporation, and the Tohoku Regional Head Office East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.

(2) Purpose of conclusion
By promoting close collaborative cooperation between the two parties, we will promote the return of research results to society and contribute to the promotion of academic research and the development of human resources, thereby contributing to mutual development and to society and the region.
(3) Cooperation contents
  • Implementation of joint research and mutual interaction between researchers and engineers
  • Utilize research and research results that make use of regional characteristics
  • Promotion of education and human resource development and mutual support
  • Other matters necessary to achieve the purpose of this agreement

3 Signatories' comments

(1) Akita University President Fumio Yamamoto
The conclusion of this agreement will deepen the relationship with NEXCO EAST and contribute to the solution of issues such as the deterioration of road facilities that are currently a problem in Japan.・ We will contribute to the construction of a research and education cooperation system for disaster mitigation, and the promotion of joint research on regional promotion such as utilization of Expressway facilities not limited to the field of science and engineering.

By signing the agreement this time, we will further strengthen the cooperation and cooperation with Akita University, and utilize the accumulated knowledge of Akita University for research that leads to improved safety and comfort on Expressway and more efficient maintenance. At the same time, we would like to contribute to local human resource development.
