NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Miyagino-ku, Sendai City) has compiled a summary of the usage status of Expressway in the Tohoku region managed by the company during the Golden Week period [12 days from Saturday, April 25, 2026 to Wednesday, May 6, 2026], and would like to inform you of the results.
Traffic volume
- 東北地方の平均日交通量は19,500台／日で、令和7年の同時期と比較して約98％でした。
- Traffic volume peaked on Saturday, May 2nd, for Out-bound lanes and on Tuesday, May 5th, for In-bound lanes.
Congestion
- The number of traffic jams exceeding 5km was 7 in Out-bound direction (an increase of 7 compared to the previous year) and 3 in the In-bound direction (an increase of 2 compared to the previous year), for a total of 10 times (an increase of 9 compared to the previous year).

- On Saturday, May 2nd, an accident and traffic congestion occurred near Murata JCT on Tohoku Expressway (Out-bound).
