East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.
The "Akiruno IC Biotope," which is developed and maintained by East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. (NEXCO EAST) at the Akiruno Interchange (IC) on Ken-o Expressway, has been certified as a "Nature Coexistence Site" by the Ministry of the Environment.
The Akiruno IC Biotope utilizes a retention pond created in conjunction with the development and management of Expressway, forming a diverse environment with continuous woodlands, grasslands, and waterfronts. It functions as a habitat and breeding ground for plants and animals, and has also continued to engage in natural environment conservation and environmental education in cooperation with the local community, such as holding experiential learning sessions for local elementary schools.
NEXCO EAST will continue to promote coexistence with the natural environment through Expressway business, and will advance initiatives toward the conservation of biodiversity and the realization of nature positivity.
