NEXCO EAST (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) is the situation after two months (8 weeks) after the Tohoku region free measure started on June 20, 2011 as support for the victims of the Great East Japan Earthquake and immediate recovery and reconstruction assistance. 1 Cross Section Traffic Status
After crossing free measures (8th week), the main cross-sectional traffic volume between Sendai-Minami IC and Sendai-Miyagi IC on the Tohoku Expressway is 73,200 units per day on average, 1.8 times higher than before the measure, between Mito IC and Naka IC on the Joban Expressway Daily average of 65,900 units, 2.1 times higher than before
2 IC usage
After the free measure (8th week), the IC's exit traffic volume in the free measure area averages 57 million daily, which is 1.3 times the amount before the free measure, and at the Mito IC on Joban Expressway Express, the average daily is 19,500. 2.2 times more than before the measure (of which 80% of the free measures are on average 15,900 vehicles a day)
3 ETC usage rate
The ETC usage rate in the areas subject to the free measures after the free measures (8th week) was 26.0%, which was 47.0 points lower than before the measures.
4 Traffic congestion
After free measures (8th week), traffic congestion occurred at an average of 27 points per day at the tollgate, of which congestion on the main line occurred 13 times a day on average, and traffic volume increased compared to the 1st week after the measure. Congestion on the main line increased, but congestion at toll gates was similar
