NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Miyagino Ward, Sendai City) would like to inform you that it has compiled a report on the usage status of Expressway in the Tohoku region managed by our company during the Golden Week period [12 days from Friday, April 25, 2025 to Tuesday, May 6, 2025].
Traffic volume
- The average daily traffic volume in the Tohoku region was 19,700 vehicles per day, approximately 97% compared to the same period in 2024.
- Traffic volumes peaked on Saturday, May 3rd on Out-bound lanes and Monday, May 5th on In-bound lanes.
Congestion
- The number of traffic jams of 5km or more was zero in Out-bound direction (down two from the previous year) and one in the In-bound direction (down four from the previous year), for a total of one (down six from the previous year).
- The longest traffic jam was 7.4 km long and occurred on Monday, May 5th, starting near Fukushima TN on Tohoku Expressway (In-bound). This traffic jam was caused by traffic concentration.
