NEXCO EAST Kanto Regional Head Office (Saitama City, Saitama Prefecture) is expanding the C4 Ken-o Expressway (hereinafter "Ken-O Ken-O Road") to 4 lanes (Kuki Shiraoka Junction (hereinafter "JCT") ~ Taiei ) JCT), four-lane operation began on March 31, 2023 About one month after the completion of the four-lane conversion between Kuki-Shiraoka JCT and Satte Interchange (hereinafter referred to as "IC") I have summarized the traffic situation of this, so I will let you know.
For the remaining sections, we will continue to proceed with maintenance with safety as our top priority.

Overview

○ Congestion due to concentration of traffic between Kuki Shiraoka JCT and Satte IC is resolved

  • Chronic congestion due to traffic concentration occurred in places where lanes decreased and road gradients changed, but the average cross-sectional traffic volume between Kukishiraoka JCT and Satte IC is increasing compared to the previous year. However, traffic congestion due to traffic concentration has been eliminated on both the inner and outer loops.
  • Outer circle: Eliminate traffic jams (8 times → 0 times)
  • Inner circle: Eliminate traffic congestion (45 times → 0 times)
  • Aggregation period: Number of occurrences of concentrated traffic jams from Saturday, April 1, 2023 to Thursday, April 27, 2023 (preliminary figures)

[Reference] Average cross-sectional traffic volume increased by 2,000 to 3,000 vehicles/day for about one month after partial completion of the 4-lane road

  • Kuki-Shiraoka JCT to Satte IC: 36,500 vehicles/day (+3,200 vehicles/day)
  • Sakai Koga IC - Bando IC: 20,500 vehicles/day (+1,800 vehicles/day)
  • Aggregation period: Saturday, April 1, 2023 to Thursday, April 27, 2023 (preliminary figures)
