After opening of Shiribeshi Expressway (SHIRIBESHI EXPRESSWAY) Yoichi Interchange (IC) -Otaru Junction (JCT), which opened on December 8, 2018 (Heisei 30) 6 We would like to inform you about the traffic conditions for the months (December 9, 2018-June 8, 2019 (2019)).
1 Usage status for 6 months after opening

- Traffic volume of the opening after six months, SHIRIBESHI EXPRESSWAY about 3,900 vehicles / day between Yoichi IC ~ Otaru Shioya IC
- During Golden Week, it averages about 7,600 vehicles / day. At peak, about 10,500 vehicles / day (May 4)
- Traffic volume between Yoichi and Otaru (total of SHIRIBESHI EXPRESSWAY and National Highway No. 5) increased by about 10% compared to before SHIRIBESHI EXPRESSWAY opened, and increased by about 20% during Golden Week
- The traffic volume on the national highway from Yoichi IC to the surrounding tourist destinations is also increasing.
2 Sightseeing status of Golden Week

- During the holiday season (Golden Week), traffic volume growth exceeds the average for all roads
- At tourist facilities along and around the open section, excursions using Expressway are promoted, and the number of tourists is increasing at many tourist facilities
