NEXCO EAST Group supports J Village Reconstruction Project

NEXCO EAST Group donated 5 million yen to the "J Village Reconstruction Project". In carrying out this donation, the donation delivery ceremony was held by Fukushima Prefecture on Monday, April 9.

There used to be a soccer sanctuary on Hamadori, Fukushima Prefecture. J Village was established in 1997 as Japan's first national soccer training center. Eleven fields are lined up inside the facility, and it has been used by more than 12,000 teams such as FIFA World Cup Japan national team, training camps and competitions, but the situation changed completely due to the Great East Japan Earthquake. As it will serve as a base for the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant's nuclear accident, it was forced to suspend its operations for a long time.

Then, four years after the accident, a reconstruction project started by Fukushima Prefecture in 2015. Full-scale restoration work has begun with the aim of partially resuming this summer and fully resuming next spring. Based on donations from companies that support this, the new full-size all-weather training field was established in Japan for the first time, and it is planned to be completed as a "new J Village" that is larger than it once was.

The donation acceptance formula, Tohoku Regional Head Office Matsuzaki Regional Head Office from the length to the Fukushima Prefecture Suzuki Vice Governor presentation of the inventory is carried out, from the deputy governor, Thank you for your donation of taking a "group. I will cherish used Thank you. "

Although the evacuation area due to the nuclear accident has been gradually lifted, full-scale reconstruction by returning to the residents is yet to come. We hope that this new J Village will become a symbol of the reconstruction of Hamadori and that the former business will return to the area. NEXCO EAST Group will continue to support the disaster-stricken areas in order to accelerate recovery.

After the earthquake, the former J Village was used as a base for the nuclear power plant accidents such as parking lots and temporary dormitories.
