NEXCO EAST, NEXCO CENTRAL, and NEXCO WEST (hereinafter referred to as the "Expressway companies") had been making improvements to their systems in preparation for a review of late-night discounts to be implemented from around July 2025. However, on April 6, 2025, a wide-area ETC system failure occurred within the jurisdiction NEXCO CENTRAL.
In response to this, on April 18, 2025, Expressway company established a Crisis Management Review Committee for the Occurrence of a Wide-area ETC System Failure (Chairperson: Nakamura Hideki, Professor at the Graduate School of Environmental Studies, Nagoya University), and is currently discussing issues such as identifying the cause of the failure and preventing recurrence.
We are currently examining the schedule for when the review of late-night discounts will begin. However, due to the temporary suspension of system development for the review of late-night discounts, it will be difficult to start the review from around July 2025.
We will provide an update on the expected start date for operations as we need to continue to carefully assess the process, including the status of resuming system maintenance.
