Regarding the suspension of emergency telephone services (partially) on Expressway

NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office (Atsubetsu Ward, Sapporo City) will cease emergency telephone operations in some sections from October 2025.
On Expressway, there are emergency telephones installed at approximately 1km intervals on the shoulders of Expressway as means of communication in the event of an emergency, and "#9910 (Road Emergency Dial)" which can be accessed free of charge from any mobile phone, regardless of location.
Due to the recent spread of mobile phones, emergency telephone services will be suspended in the following sections:

[Sections suspended from operation] (from October 2025)

 E62 Fukagawa-Rumoi Expressway Fukagawa JCT to Fukagawa Nishi IC (both inbound and outbound lanes)
 E63 Hidaka Expressway Tomakomai East IC to Numanohata West IC (both inbound and outbound lanes)

  • The designations such as E62 attached to each route indicate the route number (numbering) of Expressway, etc.

"#9910 (Road Emergency Dial)" can be used from any mobile phone regardless of location, and a reporting service via the LINE app has also been launched since March 2024.
Emergency telephones will continue to be available outside of the sections where service is currently suspended, so please use them in addition to "#9910 (Road Emergency Dial)."
