Notice of termination of collection of personal information as stipulated in the Motorcycle ETC Registration Terms and Conditions

The six companies, East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd., Metropolitan Expressway Company Limited, Central Expressway Expressway Limited, West Hanshin Expressway Company Limited, and Honshu-Shikoku Expressway Company Limited, will no longer collect personal information of customers as stipulated in the Motorcycle ETC Registration Regulations from Monday, December 22, 2025.
In addition, we will properly delete and dispose of the personal information that we have held about customers who use the ETC system for motorcycles, and the Motorcycle ETC Registration Office, which manages the personal information, is scheduled to close after the deletion of personal information is completed.

1. Termination of collection of personal information

The six companies established the Motorcycle ETC Registration Terms and Conditions (hereinafter referred to as "these Terms and Conditions") in November 2006 for the purpose of notifying customers of toll charges when motorcycle ETC is not charged properly on roads managed by each company, and for the purpose of providing information on safe passage. When applying to set up a motorcycle ETC, customers are required to register their personal information in accordance with the Terms and Conditions with their consent, and this personal information is strictly managed by the Motorcycle ETC Registration Office operated by the six companies.
Subsequently, with the amendment of the Road Improvement Special Measures Act in September 2023, it became possible to obtain personal information by checking vehicle registration, including that of motorcycles, when notifying customers whose tolls had not been charged properly.
In addition, the ITS Advanced Services Organization, a general incorporated foundation, is preparing to introduce a new ETC setup system (hereinafter referred to as the "new system") with the aim of going paperless and improving operational efficiency, and it has already begun to be used for four-wheeled vehicles. The new system will soon be introduced for two-wheeled vehicles as well, and since safe passage information will be sent by email instead of by post, it will no longer be necessary for the six companies to collect personal information.
For this reason, the six companies will no longer collect personal information from customers after Monday, December 22, 2025, when the transition to the new system for motorcycles begins.
In addition, we plan to abolish these terms and conditions and revise the ETC system usage regulations once we have fully transitioned to the new system.

2. Handling of registered personal information

Any personal information that you have registered up to now will be properly deleted and disposed of by the date on which these Terms and Conditions are abolished.
In addition, the Motorcycle ETC Registration Office, which manages personal information, is scheduled to close once the deletion of personal information has been completed.
