As a characteristic of the Golden Week period, there are crowded mountains in the first half and the second half. In particular, Out-bound line May 3 (Wednesday), In-bound is expected to congestion is more likely to occur between the lines May 4 (Thursday) and 5 (Friday). Heavy traffic over 30km is predicted on the Tohoku Expressway and Kan-Etsu Expressway.

In addition, there are some places, such as the Tohoku Expressway Ichinoseki interchange, where it is predicted that there will be 10km or more of traffic even in areas where traffic normally does not occur (for details, see the Traffic Congestion Prediction Guide).

At locations where heavy traffic is expected to occur, temporary information boards are installed and guides are placed at interchanges to reduce congestion.
