1 Objective of the experiment

In the “Concrete Measures for Revision of Specified Financial Resources for Roads”, which was decided by the Cabinet at the end of last year, it is decided that new measures will be taken to efficiently use and enhance the functions of existing highway networks by reducing Expressway tolls, etc. We will understand the effects and impacts in the fee social experiment in 2007.

As part of this Tomei Expressway In-bound Line near Yamato Tunnel, Chuo Expressway In-bound Line near Kobutsu Tunnel, Kan-Etsu Expressway In-bound Line near Hanazono Interchange (hereinafter referred to as "IC") And Chugoku Expressway In-bound Start social experiment of time zone discount at holiday congestion point near Takarazuka west tunnel on June 24th To do.

In this social experiment, we will verify the effects and impacts of traffic dispersion and changes in toll revenue by discounting charges in order to shift traffic that passes through congestion points on holidays from 20:00 to 22:00.

2 Outline of experiment

A vehicle traveling on a Expressway using the ETC system, and using the target entrance IC and exit IC, pass either the entrance IC or exit IC toll gate on Sundays and holidays from 20:00 to 22:00 Vehicle (all models)

  • Chuo Expressway etc. (In-bound line) [Traffic congestion point: near Kobutsu Tunnel]
