East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd.

NEXCO EAST (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), the prevention of global warming, in order to contribute to the formation of a recycling-oriented society, Expressway pruned branches of grass and trees that occur from, for biomass, such as thinning material, compost also far We have recycled biomass as chips and chips, but as a new challenge for green recycling, it is practical to install a biomass gas power generation plant in the Nasu Kogen Service Area (SA) of the Tohoku Expressway and supply power to SA. It has become.

Features of Nasu Kogen SA biomass gas power generation

  • "Carbon-neutral*" biomass that absorbs CO2 by photosynthesis is gasified by thermal decomposition and used as electricity and thermal energy.
  • The first commercialization of power generation using a high-moisture material mixed with grass other than wood chips is the first at a permanent facility in Japan.
  • Electricity generated from gas is used in SA toilets and parking lots
  • In addition to electricity, the generated gas circulates as heating energy for biomass and is self-sufficiently used without waste. It does not burn directly, but is heated and gasified by being steamed from the outside, so the generation of dioxin is also "0".
  • Carbide other than gas generated by thermal decomposition is reduced to 1/10 of the weight of plant-generated materials.

* What is "Carbon Neutral"?
Biomass energy is the energy that carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is fixed in the body of plants by photosynthesis, and even if carbon dioxide is released to the atmosphere again by using it, substantial carbon dioxide emission becomes zero. This is called "carbon neutral".
