NEXCO EAST (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) and NEXCO East Japan Area Tract Co., Ltd. (Minato-ku, Tokyo) will be holding the "2nd NEXCO EAST Highway Meal Koshien" from Wednesday, October 1, 2025. This is a competition to determine the "No. 1 Highway Meal" through customer votes from among the "Highway Meals" that each store in a service area (SA) or parking area (PA) (hereinafter referred to as "SA/PA") is proud to sell, and is being held as part of NEXCO EAST 20th anniversary celebrations.
What is the "2nd Highway Meal Koshien"?
- "Highway Meshi," which has sold approximately 600,000 meals since its launch on January 9 2024 is now available as the "second generation."
- A collection of signature dishes that can only be enjoyed here, including innovative local gourmet dishes that make use of local ingredients
- Each SA/PA came up with a new menu, with a total of 125 entries, exceeding the previous number.
- In both the preliminary and final rounds, the "No. 1 Highway Meal" will be decided by voting from the participants.
- Everyone who orders from the entry menu will receive a shopping voucher, and there is also a chance to win luxurious prizes.
- Gourmet entertainer Hasshi (Hashimoto Akira) has been appointed as the Highway Meal Ambassador once again.
- This time, we're collaborating with local mascots to liven up the highway meals!

October 1st (Wednesday) - November 30th (Sunday), 2020
(Entry menu sales will also begin on October 1st)

Results will be announced in April 2026

[Voting at SA/PA]
For both the "Prefectural Preliminaries" and the "Finals," customers who eat the "Second Generation Highway Meal" entry menu at each SA/PA will be given a card to vote on the spot.
[SNS voting]
Social media voting will be held for both the "Prefectural Preliminaries" and the "Finals." Even if you can't make it to the SA/PA in person, you can still participate in the "2nd NEXCO EAST Highway Meal Koshien" by voting on social media and support each entry menu!
Ten people who vote will be randomly selected to receive a digital gift of their choice worth 10,000 yen.
★Order benefits
To commemorate our 20th anniversary, we will be giving away a shopping voucher (worth 200 yen) to be used in the shopping corner to all customers who order the "Second Generation Highway Meal" entry menu during the period from the start of the "Prefectural Preliminaries" to the end of the "Finals"!
In addition, those who rate the "Second Generation Highway Meal" entry menu they eat will be entered into a lottery to win a luxurious prize on the spot.

300 people will receive a digital gift worth 1,000 yen of their choice
<Finals>
15 winners will receive a JTB gift card worth 15,000 yen, 40 winners will receive local specialties worth 10,000 yen, and 100 winners will receive a local souvenir set worth 2,000 yen.
Based on votes at SA/PA and on social media, the menu that receives the most support from customers will advance to the finals as the prefecture/prefecture representative. The menu that receives the most support from customers among the menus selected to represent the prefecture/prefecture will be determined as the "No. 1 Highway Meal."

NEXCO EAST Highway Meal Ambassador Hasshi (Hashimoto Akira)
He is a certified meat expert and rice sommelier, and has traveled around the country eating at 15,000 restaurants at his own expense. His gourmet-focused social media account (@fallindebu) has over 600,000 followers. Driven by his desire to revitalize Japan through food, he serves as an advisor for the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications on creating regional strengths, and is also a supporter of local highway meals at NEXCO EAST!
Local mascots also support highway meals!
"Highway Meals," which promote the charms of each region, will collaborate with local mascots promoting each prefecture to support the battle for the "second generation highway meal" of each prefecture.
NEXCO EAST 's service areas and parking areas are currently running a promotion with the theme "ENJOY! Detours" to help customers enjoy their Expressway driving even more.
