NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office (Sapporo City Atsubetsu-ku) has summarized the traffic conditions of the Expressway in Hokkaido during the Obon period as follows.

- The average daily traffic volume of the main sections is 20,600 units/day.. Compared to last year About 5% increase.
- The number of traffic jams over 1km, 28 times.. Compared to last year Increased 7 times.
- The number of times of traffic congestion of 10 km or more, 5 times.. Compared to last year Increased once.
- The maximum congestion length is Monday, August 14th, around 16:30, E38 23.0km that occurred between Doto Expressway (Sapporo direction) Memuro IC (Interchange) ⇒ Tomamu IC.
- 代替路措置区間である道東道 占冠IC～十勝清水IC間では交通量が増加。8月13日（日）にトマムIC～十勝清水IC間では過去最大となる30,000台／日。
- The number of traffic jams between Shimukappu IC and Tokachi Shimizu IC due to the increase in traffic 10 times.. Compared to last year Increased 9 times.

<<A word from the traffic forecaster>>
- お盆期間中の交通量は、昨年の同時期と比較し、休日の曜日配列が良かったため、まとまった連休を取りやすかったことから約5％増加し、渋滞発生回数も7回増加しました。また、発生した渋滞の規模が大きくなり、10km以上の渋滞発生回数も1回増加しました。
- 昨年から「山の日」が8月11日に制定され、今年のお盆期間は、11日（金・祝）から連休が始まり、渋滞は13日（日）のピークの他に11日（金・祝）にも6回発生しました。
