We are pleased to announce that NEXCO EAST Hokkaido Regional Head Office (Atsubetsu Ward, Sapporo City) is currently carrying out construction to widen the E38 Doto Expressway between Tomamu Interchange (IC) and Tokachi-Shimizu IC (approximately 21 km) to four lanes. A portion of this section (approximately 4 km) is expected to be operational as a four-lane road by November 2025.
The specific start date and time of operation will be announced at a later date after a detailed review of the construction process based on the progress of the construction work.
We would also like to inform you that the maximum speed on this section and on sections that have previously been operated with four lanes will be increased from 80km/h to 100km/h.
We will continue to work on the construction, switching lanes as we move forward, toward the completion of the four-lane construction. We apologize to Expressway users for any inconvenience caused, and ask for your understanding and cooperation with the construction.
