Construction of the Joban Expressway Ishioka Omitama Smart Interchange (IC), which was promoted by NEXCO EAST Kanto Regional Head Office (Taito-ku, Tokyo) with Ishioka City and others, was completed on March 24, 2011. We are pleased to inform you that it has been decided to open on Thursday.
This smart IC is a full IC that allows you to go in and out of Tokyo and Mito, and can be used with all vehicle models equipped with ETC onboard equipment.
The access road was maintained by local Ishioka and Omitama cities.

7 Expected main maintenance effects
(1) Alleviation of traffic congestion on National Route 6
With the opening of the Ishioka Omitama Smart IC, the number of access points to National Highway 6 will increase, so the traffic will be dispersed, and it is expected that the congestion of National Highway 6 and surrounding roads will be eased.
(2) Improved access to Ibaraki Airport
In addition to the Chiyoda Ishioka IC and Ibaraki Airport North IC, a new access route to Ibaraki Airport will be formed using the Ishioka Omitama Smart IC, and it is expected that access to the airport will be decentralized and improved.
(3) Revitalization of surrounding areas
The area around Ishioka Omitama Smart IC is home to many industrial parks and companies, and is one of the most suburban agricultural areas in the Tokyo metropolitan area. In addition, there are many tourist and leisure facilities in the area around Mt.

- This is an IC dedicated to ETC. Please note that at the ETC gate, both the exit and entrance must be temporarily stopped.
- Please note that there is a junction for Tokyo and Mito in front of the ETC gate (entrance).
