NEXCO EAST Mito Management Office (Mito City, Ibaraki Prefecture) will carry out restoration work on roads damaged by the Great East Japan Earthquake between the Higashi-Kanto Expressway Ibaraki Airport North Interchange (IC) and Ibaraki Town Junction (JCT). The restoration work will be closed from 5th December (Mon) to 6th December (Wednesday) at 6pm. In addition, before the road is closed, alternate traffic restrictions on one side will be enforced within the same section.

3 Construction overview

We will carry out this restoration work to repair the steps and cracks caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake and the damage that occurred under the road surface, and to restore the original function of the road. The pavement steps, flexures and cracks, and damaged areas under the pavement that occurred in this section are currently being repaired by our customers.

This time, the total length is 3.5km (about 17,000m ² In order to intensively and efficiently carry out this restoration work against the pavement damage in ), it is necessary to regulate traffic on one side for 5 days continuously and to close traffic for 9 days continuously.
