On Wednesday, August 27, 2025, Chikuma City, NEXCO EAST Nagano Management Office (Nagano City), and Nagano Construction Office (Nagano City) signed the "Agreement on Collaboration and Co-Creation between Chikuma City and East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. 1. Purpose

Currently, Chikuma City and NEXCO EAST are working together to open the Yashiro Smart IC (tentative name), which was launched in September 2023.
In order to utilize this collaboration in a wider range of fields and promote the development of the local community by mutually utilizing human resources, etc., the two companies have now concluded an agreement on collaboration and co-creation in the development and promotion of the use of the transportation hub (modal connect hub) planned to be established near the smart IC and the surrounding environment.
This will enable the effective use of each party's resources, contributing to the improvement of services for residents and the revitalization of local communities, such as increasing the attractiveness of transportation hubs and promoting tourism, while also improving the convenience and Large the number of users of the (tentative name) Yashiro Smart IC and Joshin-Etsu Expressway, where construction is currently underway.
