The Kanto Regional Head Office East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. (NEXCO EAST) and the Tokyo Regional Head Office of Central Nippon Expressway Company Limited (NEXCO CENTRAL) are announcing their traffic congestion forecast (traffic congestion of 10km or more) for Expressway in the Kanto-Koshin region and Shizuoka Prefecture over the New Year's holiday period [10 days from Friday, December 26, 2025 to Sunday, January 4, 2026]. Please use the traffic congestion forecast as a reference and cooperate in spreading out your use of expressways to avoid congestion.
Traffic congestion forecasts are based on past traffic congestion records and recent traffic conditions, but may differ from actual traffic conditions due to traffic disruptions such as accidents or weather, so please check the latest traffic information before setting off. Please also note that holiday discounts will not be applied on December 27th (Sat), 28th (Sun), and January 1st (Thu) to 4th (Sun).
1. 1. Congestion forecast
◆Overview of traffic congestion prediction
- This year's New Year's holidays will fall on Thursday through Saturday, leading into the weekend, making traffic congestion particularly likely to occur at the start of the year.
- It is predicted that both the up and down routes will be crowded from Friday, January 2nd to Saturday, January 3rd, with peak congestion on Friday, January 2nd.
- The number of traffic jams of 10km or more this year is expected to decrease by five times compared to last year.
