Here are the main themes this time!
Prevention of pedestrian accidents on Expressway
Serious accidents involving people being hit by vehicles are occurring frequently on Expressway!
In the event that your vehicle comes to a stop, pay attention to oncoming traffic, and make sure you have a safe place to evacuate, such as the area behind your vehicle, outside the guardrail. Then, quickly move to a safe location.
Check for people near stopped vehicles, slow down, and drive safely!
When driving, please check information boards and highway radio for information on broken-down vehicles and accidents, pay close attention to whether there are people near stopped vehicles, and drive safely at a reduced speed.
Prevention of wrong-way driving accidents
Driving against traffic is a life-threatening act.
Expressway are one-way!
Serious accidents caused by vehicles driving in the wrong direction have occurred. Expressway are only for travel in the designated direction. Please carefully check regulatory signs, guide signs, and road markings.
I went to the wrong place! I went too far!
Backing up or making a U-turn on Expressway is prohibited by law.
These actions constitute a "violation of traffic lane regulations" under the Road Traffic Act.
If you miss your intended interchange, continue driving and take the next interchange. At the interchange exit, use the general lane and inform an attendant.
How to deal with a vehicle driving the wrong way
Vehicles driving the wrong way tend to use the overtaking lane. If you see or hear information about a vehicle driving the wrong way, slow down, maintain a safe distance, and pay close attention to the movements of the vehicle in front of you.
Prevention of distracted driving
Don't drive while distracted!
At 100 km/h, a car travels approximately 28 meters per second. Distracted driving can cause rear-end collisions and chain-reaction accidents.
Please use your mobile phone or smartphone only at service areas (SA) and parking areas (PA)!
The Road Traffic Act has been amended, and penalties for using smartphones while driving have been strengthened.
Talking on a cell phone or staring at the screen while driving can lead to insufficient attention to surrounding traffic conditions and unstable driving due to one-handed operation, potentially resulting in accidents.
Using the vehicle while stopped on the shoulder of the road or in areas with traffic guidance markings (zebra zones) is strictly prohibited!
When using your mobile phone or smartphone, please stop your vehicle at a service area (SA) or parking area (PA), and refrain from operating it while walking, as this is extremely dangerous.
