Ban-Etsu Expressway is a highway national highway with a total distance of approximately 213km from Iwaki JCT in Iwaki City, Fukushima Prefecture to Niigata Chuo IC via Koriyama City.
The Niitsu Nishi Smart Interchange (IC) is under construction by East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. (NEXCO EAST) and Niigata City at the intersection of Ban-Etsu Expressway and National Route 403. The service will start from 3:00 pm on Saturday (Saturday).
The Niitsu Nishi Smart IC is expected to be the third smart IC in the city following Kurosaki and Hoei, to revitalize local tourism and industry and improve access to emergency medical facilities.
The opening ceremony will be held at 1 pm on the same day at the start of this service.
- What is a smart interchange
This interchange is only for "ETC (automatic payment system) vehicles". Since the number of vehicles used is limited, a simple toll booth can be set up, and there is no need for a toll collector, so it can be introduced at a lower cost than conventional interchanges.
