　長岡市と東日本高速道路株式会社　新潟支社が共同で事業を進めている、E8北陸自動車道　大積パーキングエリア（PA）に接続するスマートインターチェンジ（IC）の名称を以下のとおり決定しました。
　また、大積PAの名称は、スマートICの開通にあわせて変更になります。
　開通時期については、工事完成の見通しが立った段階で、改めてお知らせします。
　今後も長岡市と東日本高速道路株式会社とが連携し、一日も早い開通を目指します。

1. Name of smart IC

Nagaoka Nishiozumi Smart IC

2. Name of PA

[New] Nagaoka Nishiozumi PA
[Old] Ozumi PA

3. Naming Concept

Considering the convenience of users, the name combines the current city name "Nagaoka" with "West" to indicate the location relative to the existing IC within Nagaoka City, making the location clearer and allowing for easier guidance. Therefore, the name uses the city name, direction and specific area name where the smart IC and PA are located.

4. The process leading up to the name decision

The name was decided after deliberations by the Ozumi Smart IC (tentative name) District Council, which is made up of Nagaoka City and other areas, and was based on a name proposal that was decided based on the opinions of the Niigata Prefecture Branch of the Hokuriku Block Road Sign Optimization Committee, which is made up of road administrators in Niigata Prefecture, and was decided after going through procedures by the Japan Expressway Holding and Debt Repayment Agency, an independent administrative institution.
