NEXCO EAST Tohoku Regional Head Office (Aoba-ku, Sendai, Regional Head Office president: Mikio Kashima), Check the winter tire installation status and ask the customer to replace the tires early. Therefore, Expressway in major interchanges (IC), has implemented the mounting survey of winter tire in the early winter period.
The results of the survey conducted on November 24 are shown in the table below.
The winter tire installation rate is higher than the previous survey (November 16th), but the overall installation rate is still low.
On the 21st day of the first three weekends (November 21, 22, 23) of last weekend, an accident-related road closure occurred due to snow for the first time this year. Of the vehicles that had an accident on snowy roads that day, about 60% had summer tires installed. It is expected that full-scale snowfall will occur in the Tohoku region from December, so please change to winter tires early and drive safely.

- Survey method: Visually check the tire type of the vehicle passing through the general lane at the tollgate.
(One time: about 100 units or 30 to 60 minutes)
