NEXCO EAST The Kitakami Management Office (Kitakami City, Iwate Prefecture) will be closed at night from Kitakami Junction (hereinafter referred to as "JCT") to Yuda Interchange (hereinafter referred to as "IC") on the upper and lower lines of E46 Akita Expressway (hereinafter referred to as "Akita Road") to carry out pavement repair work and regular inspections of facilities and equipment.
We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause to our customers, but we ask for your understanding and cooperation so that you can have plenty of time when you go out.

1. Closed section and date and time

1. Road closure section:
   Akita Expressway, northbound and southbound lanes, Kitakami JCT to Yuda IC



• The signs such as E46 attached to each route indicate the route number (numbering) of Expressway, etc.
2. Date and time
   Implementation date:

   October 6th (Monday) to October 21st (Tuesday), 2020

   Every day from 20:00 to 6:00 the next morning

   *Excluding weekends and holidays
   *Excluding Friday, October 10th

   Preparation day:

   October 22nd (Wednesday) - October 24th (Friday), 2020

   Every day from 20:00 to 6:00 the next morning

2. Detour

For detours, please refer to Appendix 1 [PDF: 164KB].
The detour will increase travel time, so please allow yourself plenty of time.

3. Regarding transit adjustments due to suspension of traffic

For customers who exit Expressway due to a road closure, detour around the closed section, then re-enter and transfer in the same direction, we will implement a "transfer adjustment" in which the toll will be adjusted according to the section used. (See Appendix 2 [PDF: 302KB])

How to use transit adjustment

ETC customers

• For customers using ETC, please drive wirelessly at designated outflow ICs, and also wirelessly drive at re-inflow ICs. (Transfer certificates are not issued for ETC vehicles)
• ETC time zone discount will be applied, considering the transited journey as one.
  Toll charges are adjusted at the time of billing, so they may differ from those displayed at the toll gate.
• Insert the same ETC card for all journeys and pass through the ETC lane at the tollgate.

Customers such as cash

• Customers paying with cash, etc. should receive a "transfer certificate" at the outflow designated IC, then take a "transit ticket" at the re-inflow IC, and then take the "transition certificate" at the toll booth where they pay the toll for the first time. Please hand over your ``book'' and ``traffic ticket.''

Common to ETC and cash customers

• If the road closure is lifted after exiting at an exit IC, the toll will be adjusted even if you re-enter from an IC in the road closure section in the forward direction or from an exit IC.
• Hanamaki PA Smart IC, Oshu Smart IC, and Yokote Kita Smart IC are only available to vehicles with ETC.

Four. Construction overview

At Akita Road Upper and Lower Line Kitakami JCT ~ Yuda IC, we will carry out pavement repair work and equipment inspection in the tunnel. In order to avoid causing as much inconvenience as possible to customers, we will close the road on weekday nights when there is little traffic, and carry out the construction intensively and efficiently. This is a necessary construction work for you to use the Expressway safely and comfortably, so we ask for your understanding and cooperation.
