We would like to pray for the souls of those who have died in the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake, and to express our deepest sympathies to the affected people.

Iwaki Chuo IC-Iwaki Yokura IC of the Iwaki Chuo IC-Joban Tomioka IC section of the Joban Expressway which was closed due to the earthquake and the accident at a nuclear power plant in Fukushima Prefecture. We will inform you that the temporary restoration during the period has been completed and the suspension of traffic will be lifted.

1 Closure cancellation section (planned)

The sections where suspension of traffic is canceled after 10:00 on April 1 are as follows.

  • As a result, the emergency restoration will be completed for about 840 km, which is about 97% of the total 870 km section of 20 routes such as Expressway damaged by the earthquake.

2 About free measures for vehicles urgently evacuated from evacuation designated areas etc. due to the Fukushima nuclear accident

Regarding the free measures currently being taken, the Iwaki Shikura Interchange (IC) will be added by removing the above-mentioned suspension of traffic, and the toll gates covered are as follows.

3 Joban Expressway Joban Tomioka IC-Iwaki Shikura IC Future outlook

This section is included in the evacuation direction area, etc. due to the accident at the Fukushima Nuclear Power Plant, and it is not possible to start emergency restoration work, and there is currently no prospect of cancellation of suspension of traffic.
