East Japan/Central Japan/West Japan Expressway Co., Ltd. has started an open call for technology for reverse-travel countermeasures on Expressway on November 22, 2016.
The reverse run at Expressway occurs almost once every two days, and not only the reverse running vehicle but also the person who is running correctly is involved, and a tragic accident such as a head-on collision ceases afterwards. Hmm. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has set a goal of zero reverse accidents by 2020, and in order to achieve that goal, in March 2016, we formulated the "Expressway Roadmap for Reverse Measures". In the roadmap, the causes of reverse running such as "negligence", "intentional", "cognitive decline" and "prevent reverse running", "remind reverse running", and "back running" occur Even if it does not lead to an accident, it will be organized according to the combination of directionality of measures, and based on this, multi-layered measures in terms of hardware and software will be taken from the road side, driver side, car side respectively. I am.
As part of this effort, this open call for participants seeks reverse run countermeasure technology from private companies, etc., and seeks technology (including during development) that is the subject of on-site verification and evaluation.
