From July 22, 2023, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Chiba Prefecture, and East Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. offer discount fares for specific time zones on Tokyo Wan Aqua-Line Expressway In-bound line (Kisarazu → Kawasaki area) on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. We have started a social experiment of variable ETC time zone charges.
We will inform you about traffic conditions after the start of the social experiment.
Traffic conditions after the start of the social experiment of ETC time-based tolls (main points)
- The traffic volume from 13:00 to 20:00 is decreasing, and it is dispersed in the time zone before and after
- Although the daily traffic volume is increasing compared to the previous year, the maximum loss time due to traffic congestion is halved.
- Congestion on general roads around Kisarazu Kaneda IC has eased, and the decrease in driving speed has improved.
- All data is short-term data (one month), so we will continue to collect and analyze traffic data to verify the effects.
